During
a game of tennis, 3 years ago, I suffered a prolapsed disc in my lower back. I was in considerable pain and unable
to walk unaided. Through a combination of Physiotherapy and Pilates, I was able to avoid the need for surgery and returned
to work as a dentist within 3 months. I was so impressed by the way in which Pilates
was able to strengthen my muscles, that I decided to retrain as a STOTT PILATES® Certified
Instructor*, with a view to helping other people recover from injury or generally improve their fitness.
I set up Didsbury Pilates in 2009, teaching group and private sessions in Didsbury and Hale.
*STOTT PILATES®
is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. Co‑founders Moira and
Lindsay G. Merrithew, along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, have spent more
than two decades refining the STOTT PILATES method of exercise and equipment. This resulted in the inclusion of modern principles
of exercise science and spinal rehabilitation, making it one of the safest and effective methods available. This clear and
detailed approach forms the basis for STOTT PILATES training and certification programs. It’s used by rehab and prenatal
clients, athletes, celebrities and everyone in between. Visit www.stottpilates.com. ® Trademark or registered trademark of Merrithew Corporation, used under license.
